Pastor Floyd Allen Knowlin
Pastor Floyd Allen Knowlin was born on July, 16, 1959 to the late John and Lizzie Duncan Knowlin. He is on e of seventeen children. After the passing of his parents, he was blessed with an adoptive mother, Momma Queen Harris. He is a 1977 graduate of Andrews High School. At the tender age of thirteen, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was filled with the Holy Ghost! In 1976, he was called and ordained into the ministry. In 1980, Pastor Knowlin found the love of his life and married the former Ms. Mildred Grayson, and this union was blessed with two children, Antonio and Alexia Knowlin. Together with his wife, they serve as spiritual parents to many other children within the congregation as well as surround communities!
Pastor Knowlin later furthered his education by attending Nicholas Theological Seminary School, Cathedral Bible College, and Berean Bible Institute. He also studied under the leadership of Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Ministries in Atlanta, Georgia where he received his certificate of Leadership. Pastor Knowlin began his first pastoral duties eighteen years ago at Shiloh A.M.E. Church, Georgetown, SC. He served as pastor in the AME denomination for seven years until God commissioned him and conditioned his heart to establish a new church headed in a new direction.
Pastor Knowlin is now the Pastor and Founder of Lighthouse of Jesus Christ Independent and Non-Denominational Church. The church was originally located at 1414 Winyah Street Georgetown, SC, but this mighty man of God was given a vision to build a new sanctuary. On September 29, 2007 many believers and followers saw this vision come to pass. Now, the new 26,000 sq. ft. edifice sits on seven acres of land located at 159 Johnson Road Georgetown, SC. “To God be the Glory” is how Pastor Knowlin feels about this great blessing!
Pastor Knowlin is well loved and respected in his church, community, and various cities all over the East Coast. His love for Christ and the God that resides in him has set him far above all he could ever imagine, and because of that, when Mother Dorothy Norwood met him for the first time, their spirits immediately bonded together and since that day, she had adopted him as her son in the Gospel. For his humbleness and obedience, God has blessed him with numerous awards, accolades, plaques, and trophies. Among them are: The Citizens Award from Sampit Community, Outstanding Minister, Outstanding Master of Ceremony, and he was recognized by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He was the first minister in Georgetown to be inducted into the Live Five “Hall of Fame.”
Pastor Knowlin is a great role model and mentor to people of all ages, race, gender, and religion. He is a man that will preach wherever the Lord may lead him; boys’ homes, prisons/jails, in the streets, radio stations, and nursing homes, etc. For he stands firm on his word, “I ain’t scured of ya!” Pastor Knowlin is always striving to be a great shepherd for his sheep.
